Resident permit

Every foreigner, including refugees and asylum-seekers, staying in the Arab Republic of Egypt is obliged to have a valid residence permit. Without a valid residence permit, your stay would be illegal, which is punishable under Egyptian law.

If you want to extend your stay after 30 days, or want to buy a multiple entree visa, we will help you. As we know, that in the visa offices they not or hardly speak other then Arabic, and also the visa application rules, change much. We go with you, to translate for you, and that you get the extension what you require.

The visa extension can be 3, 6 or 12 months. This depends on lot of requirements, and when you go there yourself, whatever you fill in on the form, the visa office employee, will decide how long your extended stay is, based on the information he can see in the computer. In many cases, they ask you to leave shortly Egypt, and enter again to renew your visa. For sure this is frustrating, as you ask to STAY in Egypt, not leave. The costs for a resident permit is nowadays 1700 LE (90 EUR, index on 26-12-2020). Also a penalty fee for overdue visa is the equal amount.

What you need for a resident permit?

• 3 copies of your passport

• 3 copies of each visa from Egypt in past

• 3 pass-photos required in Egypt

• 3 copies Proof of address

• 3 copies of marriage contract (not orfi)

In the visa office you can pay directly at Misr Bank in the same building. There is a copy office (against fee). They can make photos of you, by their own camera, and they need finger prints. As in past the renewed visa was a stamp, and signed, since 6 months you get a resident ID card.

Lot of things go wrong here, and lawyer support is needed. You can take a Arabic speaking friend with you, but we advice you to let you help by a visa expert. As this specialism is not common, and lot of lawyers can make orfi contracts for tourists, then are not aware of the current situation, and rights you have. Mostly, every Egyptian can go with you, when you pay money. This can be more then 200 EURO! So that is where we come in. We are happy to stand by your side, and help you with this.
