Long term visa or citizenship?

ree

I wanted to ask this question so many times before but kept forgetting. So here it it...and I'm asking this question specifically because whenever someone mentions Egyptian citizenship, then we hear about "Well, if you get Egyptian citizenship your embassy will not be able to assist you if you get in trouble." For those who have been in trouble, I'm not talking about visa or passports, I'm talking about being stranded, domestic violence, no finances, jailed, child support etc. I mean real problems. How many of your embassies have helped you relocate, assist you financially, sheltered you from an abusive husband etc.? Come let us hear about those bomb ass embassies that run to their citizens rescue whenever help is needed.

What is the point of this question? If you're going to live here long term or forever having citizenship allows you to build a life, you have legal rights just by waving that ID card under anyone nose who gives you troubles ... there's a lot of perks and especially for women who have children.

Anyway, if getting citizenship is not for you, it's your choice but for the ones who already have it, they know very well how much things are in their favor for having citizenship. If your country doesn't allow dual nationality, then of course you can't get it. I mentioned this before, in future it will become difficult to get even spousal visas and the validity will be shorter and more expensive. Citizenship is once off, no more visa runs or Abbasiya.
