What about my resident visa?

ree

Lot of questions are asked on social media: what about my extended visa? Some hear to get a waiting visa, others are asked to fly out. And also in different visa offices, we get different stories? So what are the rules really? To make it more easy, we explain here what is the latest rule to extend your visa. Most residents are in need to fly out, to get a new entree visa. Why this and what are the options? What about long term stay, when you bought a house or are married to an Egyptian partner? Below the general rules:

There’s also the option of renewing the visa in person while remaining in Egypt. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to do so online without leaving the country. Since the in-person application requires long queues at the only available office in Cairo, many prefer to temporarily leave the country and apply online in minutes. Applications for visa renewals are submitted at the Egyptian Passports, Immigration, and Nationality Administration office in the old Police Academy in Abbasiya, Cairo. The office is open between 8 am – 2 pm ever day except Friday (Saturday is for pickups only). Documents required to obtain a visa extension in person are:

  • A valid, eligible passport

  • The eVisa with which the foreigner has entered the country

  • The extension fees in cash. Several fees apply.

  • The Egyptian address the applicant is staying at

  • Passport-sized photo

It will be necessary for most applicants to return twice to the office. The first time, foreigners are required to fill out the application form, the security form, have their photo and fingerprints taken, and submit all the relevant documents. They also need to pay the first application fee. On the second day, they will pay further fees and receive their visa extension. The visa will be granted for 3 further months (no other options are available). The visa extension is officially called Foreign Residence Card and takes the form of a plastic ID card. What Happens If I Overstay My Visa in Egypt? Overstaying a visa is never a good idea. Overstayers are not only breaking the terms and conditions of their specific eVisa but also the Egptian visa and immigration policies. This can have serious consequences, including a fine. Those who decide to overstay their visa may even be prevented from obtaining an Egyptian travel permit in the future. If a visitor realizes that their visa has already expired, they should get in touch with the Egyptian authorities as soon as possible.

Our question is; can we have a long term visa if we want to live permanent in Egypt? Which marriage is valid for long term stay? Now during Corona lot of people are in need about expired visa. Why we cannot stay longer, as we want to stay in Egypt forever? We like to help any of you, and try to see a way of generate a long term resident permit (not a extended touristic visa) with options of work and settle down.
